Structural Assessment Program Training
On Wednesday, July 31st, ASCE LA YMF, Metro LA Branch, and OC Branch jointly hosted a Safety Assessment Program (SAP) training at the Port of Long Beach. The event had over 50 in attendance as people were trained to be either SAP Evaluators or Coordinators. The program, which is managed by CalOES, utilizes professional engineers to assist local governments in safety evaluation of the built environment in the aftermath of a disaster. The instructors were very knowledgeable and had a great deal of first-hand experience in disaster recovery. Those who attended can now play a greater role in the recovery efforts after future disasters.
