About the Event
The Le Val Lund Lecture and Student Symposium on Lifeline Infrastructure and Community Resilience intends to (1) promote interaction between engineering professionals, community leaders and organizations, educational and research institutions, and students, with a general focus around lifeline systems, and (2) improve lifeline infrastructure resilience to support resilient communities.
The Le Val Lund Lecture and Award for Practicing Lifeline Risk Reduction recognizes an individual for contributions to the practice of reducing risks to lifeline systems and preparing communities for natural and manmade hazards. The 2018 Le Val Lund Award Recipient is Yumei Wang of the Oregeon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. Yumei will present a challenge to engineers and other professionals to develop new and transformative approaches for improving society’s resilience to future natural disasters.
The Le Val Lund Student Symposium is organized for students, researchers and professionals to have a forum to share their projects and knowledge dealing with Lifeline Infrastructures and Community Resilience. The symposium will include a mix of technical presentations from a wide variety of fields, panel discussions with industry experts, and more.
