APPLICATIONS are NOW OPEN!

The ASCE Western Region Younger Member Council (WRYMC) is returning to Los Angeles in 2027 after 10 years! We are currently collecting applications for ASCE Members to join our Local Planning Committee!

 

Joining is a great way to connect with younger members from ASCE Regions 8 and 9, gain leadership experience, and collaborate with passionate peers to support a great conference.

Below is the full timeline for our applications process.
Monday, May 12th - Chair and Committee Member Applications Open
Saturday, May 31st - Chair Applications Due by 11:59 pm
Monday, June 2nd - Saturday, June 14th - Chair Interviews (If Needed)
Monday, June 16th - Chair Positions Announced

Friday-Saturday, September 12-14th - ASCE LA YMF Officer Board Retreat (Invited!)

Rolling (Through January 2026) - Committee Member Positions Announced
February 26-28, 2026 - 2026 WRYMC in Reno, NV
Fall 2027 - 2027 WRYMC in Los Angeles

WRYMC CHAIRS

The WRYMC Chairs lead the Local Planning Committee to plan and organize various components of the conference. They are the primary liaisons between the ASCE Society and Local Planning Committee.

WRYMC Chairs

  • Shall have general supervision over all WRYMC affairs, programs, and events

  • Call and preside over Officer, Executive, and Special Meetings to conduct WRYMC Business

  • Collaborate with the ASCE Committee on Younger Members (CYM) and Society Committees 

  • Appoint and assist Committee Chairs and Members as requested

  • Authorized to allocate, expend, and monitor funds for WRYMC affairs, programs, and events

  • Serve as a liaison between YMF, Branch, and Section as requested

  • Maintains and updates all WRYMC Emails, Google Drive, and account logins

WRYMC LOCAL PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEES

The following positions are appointed positions and work together on the WRYMC Local Planning Subcommittees. Subcommittees are responsible for planning and coordinating various activities, events, and programs to support WRYMC.

 

For those who want to be involved with WRYMC planning at a lower commitment level are encouraged to be a committee member. You can be a member of multiple subcommittees.

Programs Subcommittee

Logistics Chair

  • Prepares the WRYMC Agenda and updates the Master Event Schedule

  • Oversees quality control of all WRYMC program scheduling and travel logistics 

  • Coordinate venue logistics, registration, and volunteers

  • Collaborates with Chairs to develop programming during WRYMC

  • Orders and protects WRYMC supplies, materials, and prizes

 

Social Chair

  • Plan and organize social events to be hosted before, during, and after official WRYMC programming (pre-conference socials, happy hours, and Sunday Brunch)

  • Coordinate venue logistics, registration, and volunteers

  • Prepare content for the Socials Page and event pages as needed on the website

 

Technical Tours Chair

  • Plan and organize Technical Tours to be hosted before or after official WRYMC programming (ASCE landmarks, LA landmarks, and project sites)

  • Coordinate venue logistics, registration, and volunteers

  • Prepare content for the Technical Tours Page and event pages as needed on the website

  • Assist the committee with duties as requested to support the overall conference

 

 

Marketing and Communications Subcommittee

Corporate Relations Chair

  • Develops and maintains the WRYMC Sponsorship Package

  • Oversees quality control of all sponsorships and ensures donor benefits are fulfilled

  • Oversees quality control of all publications, social media, and website

  • Prepare and submit budgets and financial reports to ASCE entities as required 

  • Collaborates with the LA YMF Treasurer to process all reimbursement requests, invoices, checks, and sponsorships promptly

 

Graphics Chair

  • Create graphics to be used for WRYMC social media, website, and sponsorship package

  • Collaborate with others to create promotional materials for events and programs

  • Assist the committee with duties as requested to support the overall conference

 

Banquet Subcommittee

Banquet Chair

  • Coordinate venue logistics, registration, speakers, and awards

  • Collaborates with WRYMC Chairs to develop the banquet theme

  • Prepares banquet presentation, program, and script

  • Orders and protects WRYMC supplies, materials, backdrops, centerpieces, etc.

 

Awards Chair

  • Collaborate with the CYM to collect applications for WRYMC Awards

  • Coordinate with ASCE Region Governors to judge awards

  • Design and order WRYMC Awards for winners

  • Coordinate venue logistics and awards portion of the banquet

  • Prepares banquet presentation and script to announce award winners

  • Orders and protects WRYMC supplies, materials, and awards
