Matthew Jacobson

President

Matthew is a Civil Engineer at Kimley-Horn with experience in active transportation, multimodal design, and mobility projects across Southern California. He has supported and led the planning and design of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects for a wide variety of public agencies at the local, state, and federal level. 

 

He is also involved with ASCE MLAB, ASCE Committee on Younger Members and ASCE Committee on Governing Documents at the ASCE Society-Level. In his free time, Matthew enjoys running, photography, golfing, and music festivals.

Ani Sarkissian

Past-President

Ani is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and is a licensed Professional Engineer in California. She's been involved with ASCE since her freshman year of college. Ani currently serves as the ASCE LA YMF President, and YMF Liaison for the ASCE Metropolitan LA Branch. In her spare time, Ani enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, trying new foods, and going to concerts.

Isabella is a Civil Engineering Associate at the City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering. She has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. Post graduation Isabella has gained experience in both the private and public sectors.  She is excited to continue volunteering for ASCE in her position this year for LA YMF in addition to ASCE MLAB  and ASCE Committee on Younger Members. She enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and trying new restaurants.

Katherine Wang

Vice President, External

Katherine is a Civil Analyst at Kimley-Horn, focusing on transportation projects. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. Since her first year of college, Katherine has been actively involved in ASCE and is also serving as an Awards Chair for ASCE MLAB. She is excited to continue her involvement with ASCE and is committed to sharing the many opportunities the organization has to offer. In her free time, Katherine enjoys exploring new restaurants, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Fun Fact: Katherine loves animals and currently shares her home with 4 dogs, 2 cats , and a tortoise!

Nicole Aquino

Nicole is a Civil Engineering Specialist at STV and works on civil and roadway support for rail LA Metro projects. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Nicole was actively involved in CPP's ASCE and ITE student chapters and held various leadership positions. She's looking forward to continuing her involvement with ASCE by inspiring students to consider a career in engineering. In her free time, Nicole enjoys reading, finding new places to eat, and going to concerts.

Sebastian currently serves as an Assistant Surveyor with PBLA Surveying, where he contributes to a wide range of land surveying efforts across California. He has hands-on experience with ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, topographic mapping, boundary surveys, and sUAS (drone-based) survey projects. Since his time as an undergraduate at Cal Poly Pomona, he has remained actively engaged with professional organizations such as the California Land Surveyors Association (CLSA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Outside of work, Sebastian enjoys golfing and spending quality time with family and friends.

Lluvia (She/Hers/Ella) is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Ángeles Department of Water and Power supporting the Pure Water Los Angeles Program. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2021 and is passionate about driving diversity, equity and inclusion as a proud first generation Latina engineer. She's also actively involved with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and currently serves as President of the LADWP-SHPE chapter. Lluvia enjoys reading, dancing, and traveling to new cities!

Kristine Ocampo

Kristine is a Project Engineer at Psomas and has prior experience in land development and stormwater management on residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and in her free time, enjoys baking, biking to the beach, and planning future travels.

Jackie is a Project Engineer within the Life Science group at DPR Construction. She graduated from UCLA with her Bachelor's Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2023. She was involved in her ASCE chapter at UCLA with different projects and served in various leadership roles. She is excited to continue her involvement in ASCE with LA YMF as one of the Co-Graphics Chairs to keep paying it forward for all that ASCE has done for her. In her free time, you can catch her doing anything active or outdoorsy such as hiking, skiing, backpacking, playing soccer or exploring National Parks.

Catherine is a Civil Engineering Associate at LADWP focusing on geotechnical engineering for water pipeline replacement projects. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from UCLA and MS in Environmental Engineering from Stanford. Outside of work Catherine enjoys concerts and café hopping.

Stacy Soewono

Student Night & Job Fair

Stacy is a Highway Coordinator at HDR, Inc., specializing in transportation related projects. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. Since her first year in college, Stacy has been an active member of ASCE, taking on multiple leadership roles, most notably serving as the student chapter’s Vice President, External during her senior year. She looks forward to continuing her involvement with ASCE and hopes to showcase the many opportunities the organization provides. Outside of work, Stacy loves visiting cafes, exploring new food spots, and traveling. Fun fact: She runs a foodstagram, @stacy.eats!

Scott is an Engineer at Clark Construction Group. His construction experience ranges from working on commercial high-rises to educational facilities through Los Angeles, managing interior finishes and MEPs. He graduated in May 2025 from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. During his undergraduate, he was an active member of his) ASCE student chapter. He was the Timber-Strong Design project manager, and Student Chapter President during the same year Cal State Northridge was hosting the Pacific Southwest Symposium. Outside of work, he enjoys playing guitar, running, playing golf or tennis, and hiking!

Isabel Davila

Historian

Isabel is a Tooling Design & Manufacturing Engineer in the Aerospace sector. In her most recent project, she contributed to standardizing manufacturing processes  and compliance to ISO Regulations & NASA Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development (CLD) Requirements. She received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Manufacturing and Design from UCR in 2018, where she worked with the FSAE team to gain hands on experience in manufacturing and design. Outside of her career, her hobbies include attending manufacturing webinars, reading manufacturing magazines, leisure reading, writing, camping, motorsports, and spending time with family.

K-12 Outreach

Justin is an Engineer at HNTB and currently works on Brightline West High Speed Rail and various transportation related projects. Justin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and was actively involved in the CPP ASCE student chapter throughout his college career. He is also involved in the WTS Inland Empire Chapter and is excited to continue his engagement within the civil engineering industry through ASCE. Outside of work, he enjoys baking, snowboarding and exploring new places.

Tariq Branche

Tariq Branche is an Assistant Preconstruction Manager at Clark Pacific, specializing in precast concrete facade systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the Pacific (2021) and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona (2025). Tariq is actively involved in the engineering community, serving as Co-Graphics Chair for ASCE LA YMF and Historian for ASCE SB/R YMF. Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer, traveling, spending time with friends, going to music festivals, and continuously expanding his knowledge of the AEC industry.

Colby is an Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison on the Geotechnical Engineering team. She received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021. Colby has been involved with ASCE since her freshman year of college and currently serves nationally on the ASCE Committee on Professional Career Growth. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her family, friends, and two dogs.

Jonny is an Engineer II at HNTB who works on high-speed rail and LA Metro projects. He graduated from UCLA with a Civil Engineering bachelor's degree in December of 2022 and earned his EIT in October 2023. Since his junior year at UCLA, he has been an active member of ASCE and loves to give back to the community. He is also currently studying for his PE Civil exam. Engineers Week Girl Day Lead

Sophia Olmeda is a Civil Engineering Associate with the Los Angeles Department of Water, where she supports recycled water projects that advance regional water sustainability and resilience. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Columbia University, with minors in Sustainable Engineering and Environmental Engineering. This year, Sophia serves as the E-Week Girl Day Lead and is passionate about bridging engineering resources to young women in the region who are interested in STEM, helping inspire the next generation of engineers. Outside of work, she loves to travel and tick off activities on her bucket list—taking a trapeze class is next on her list this year.

Bryan Orozco

Bryan is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, where he contributes his expertise to the Water System's Project Management Office. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UC Irvine and a Master of Science in Structural-Earthquake Engineering from UCLA. During his time at UC Irvine, he actively participated in the ASCE UCI chapter, showcasing his commitment to staying engaged with the industry. Currently, he also serves on the LADWP-SHPE Board. Outside of work, Bryan enjoys exploring diverse food and dishes, enjoys dancing, and cherishes moments spent with family and friends.

Jerry Shen

University Outreach

Jerry Shen builds momentum where engineering meets business. As an Engineering Business Manager at Solmax and a California-licensed PE, he works with engineers and agencies to turn technical constraints into practical, buildable solutions in the field. He also serves as University Outreach Chair for ASCE LA YMF, focused on connecting students to real industry reps, real projects, and real career paths. Outside of work, you’ll find him in the gym, planning the next trip, or deep-diving into whatever will make him sharper in the AEC world.
