About the Event
Please join ASCE OC for a technical tour of the Sixth Street Viaduct Project.
The $482 million Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project is the largest bridge project in the history of Los Angeles. The design, known as “The Ribbon of Light”, was created by local architect Michael Maltzan, winner of the City’s 2012 international design contest. HNTB is the designer and T.Y. Lin is the construction management consultant.
Julia Moye Sanchez de la Vega, PE, ENV SP (Senior Civil Engineer-City of Los Angeles-Sixth Steet Viaduct Division) and Robert Thorpe, PE with Skanska-Stacy and Witbeck (Project Engineer and Civil Superintendent) will lead the tour.
Lunch is provided at the technical tour. PPEs (orange safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses and steel toe boots) are a requirement for this tour.
A carpool will be coordinated to alleviate parking.
Due to the size of the site some volunteers will be needed to drive tour members from one side of the project to the other.
