President's Welcome Message

Hello LA Younger Members and supporters!

I am beyond excited to have just started my ASCE LA YMF Presidential Term this month. This will be my 10th year in ASCE, and 6th year with our LA YMF board. The dedication and devotion of the ASCE community toward advancing the civil engineering profession continues to amaze me every day, and is one of the many reasons why I keep coming back!

In this new fiscal year, I'm looking forward to leading our continued excellence in programming throughout the year, driven by our passion-driven 29-person board. We held our board retreat a month ago to onboard our incoming board members, where I also revealed my motto for this year: SHARE. I want to *share* the amazing things we do with our diverse Los Angeles communities, with our peers and colleagues, whether we can directly engage these various groups or receive social media support.

Some of my goals this year include:

• Increasing our marketing presence,

• Reaching new younger member audiences,

• Executive board accountability in supporting all ASCE LA YMF programming, and

• Balancing our budget

I want to thank Claris Purasinghe for her outstanding leadership as our past president. I have known Claris since we were both underclassmen at the CSUN ASCE student chapter, and it has been a privilege to grow alongside her as a professional. I particularly commend her for showing us how mothers are great leaders. Thank you, Claris!
